Milwaukee South Tacoma Shops

South Tacoma, May 29, 1960. Once in a while, I’d run down to South Tacoma and check out the Milwaukee action. Lots of electric’s in those days, a trio + a twin of box cabs electrics to climb the Cascade pass.

This unit was part of an order for 78 GP-9's, 200-277. In the 1970’s Milwaukee Road up graded many GP-9’s to

Railroad Stuff: Originally built as MILW 2443, built 6/54, sn 19606. Rebuilt May, 1973 as GP20m, upgraded to 2,000 hp, and renumbered 977.
