Below is a little more information on the first railroad company.

PORT TOWNSEND AND SOUTHERN RAILROAD COMPANY - Incorporated on August 19, 1887, in the Washington Territory, by Port Townsend’s first Mayor Charles Eisenbeis (July 10, 1832 - March 9, 1902), Judge Joseph A Kuhn (September 1, 1841 - ), future Washington Senator Henry Landes (October 8, 1843 - ) treasurer, Loran Brown Hastings (father to Frank W Hastings (November 12, 1848 - )) and S W Levy, Port Townsend’s "Big Five". The company was to be capitalized at $3 million. Judge Joseph A Kuhn (September 1, 1841 - ) was the first president. Also involved were A D Moore and Robert Crosby Hill (September 14, 1829 - ). Construction began on March 23, 1889 at Briggs farm, about 2 miles west of Port Townsend. The company constructed and operated a standard gauge railroad extending from Port Townsend to Quilcene, 27.30 miles, and extending from Olympia to Butler’s Cove, three miles, a total of 30.30 miles. The original charter also allowed the company to continue to Portland. On September 28, 1889 the company was acquired by the Port Townsend Southern Railroad Company.

Just found this gem - thanks for the PT history le...

Just found this gem - thanks for the PT history lesson - great to see that we had vibrant barge traffic in PT and as late as 1981

Maybe its time to do this again

I am an N scale model railroader and am currently ...

I am an N scale model railroader and am currently building Port Townsend.
